YouTube returns to become the exclusive live broadcast partner of Coachella
Since 2011, the best way to watch the Cochella Festival comfortably at home has been through YouTube. The video streaming service allows users to watch live broadcasts of world-famous festivals on their mobile phones or desktops at home, and this year is no exception. This is the tenth year that YouTube has offered an exclusive live broadcast to watch the show after a two-year hiatus due to a pandemic, and the service will also provide behind-the-scenes footage of the festival.
"fans can enjoy intimate artist interviews, YouTube Shorts behind-the-scenes content and raffles, and YouTube Premium pre-parties," YouTube wrote in its announcement. Viewers can also buy official Coachella and artist goods through YouTube shopping for the first time. Real-time chat will also be enabled to interact with other viewers, view schedule announcements, and so on.
The event will be broadcast live over two weekends, and the first weekend will be dedicated to three live broadcasts, covering different performances taking place at the same time. This starts at 4: 00 p.m. PST / 7: 00 p.m. EDT on Friday, April 15, and continues through the evening of Monday, April 18, including a replay. You can now set up listening reminders on the Coachella channel.
The second weekend, called "Coachella Curated", delved into the history of some of the artists who played at the event. Not only that, YouTube says there will be "Anke performances, artist reviews, mini documents, and so on." More details about Coachella Curated will be announced soon.
As part of the event, YouTube also announced that new premium subscribers in the United States will be able to receive subscriptions for the first three months free of charge from April 15 to April 25. YouTube Premium members will be given access to six "pre-YouTube Premium parties", which will "provide behind-the-scenes tidbits for fans as artists prepare to appear on the stage of the Cochella Festival". The complete pre-party schedule is as follows, and the exact time will be announced soon.
