Don't mind buying a fitness tracker through your insurance company-in Singapore, the government encourages you to buy a fitness tracker. Fitbit, in cooperation with the Health Promotion Council of Singapore, launched an initiative called "healthy living SG", which will stimulate the state's residents to adopt fitness trackers. If you promise to provide an one-year Fitbit senior health coach service and agree to share data with the board of directors, you will get a free Inspire HR tracker. As you might imagine, the goal is to keep Singaporeans in good shape and "enrich" the board's health promotion with useful information.

Fitbit claims it is the first "significant" match between wearables, digital health platforms and the national public health plan. It also stressed that there would be a "clear and seamless consent process" so that potential participants knew they were sharing data.

Locals can pre-register for Live Healthy SG in mid-September, and the program will be officially launched at the end of October. Premium is scheduled to make its global debut in the fall.

This is strictly optional and cannot be used in large quantities (especially if you already have a better wearable device than the entry-level Inspire HR). However, it can be used as an experiment to see how the activity tracker serves the government's health strategy. This also helps the bottom line of Fitbit. The company has been shifting its focus to services. Versa Lite's smartwatch business has fallen sharply recently due to poor sales. This could help it rebound, let alone set a precedent for other countries interested in matching Fitbit's technology to public health programs.
