Amazon develops its own arm server chip (Amazon designs faster ARM-based chips for its cloud servers)
Amazon cloud hosting business Amazon Web Services will soon acquire new server hardware-a newer processor designed specifically for data centers, Reuters reported.
Last year, Amazon announced the launch of Graviton, an arm-based processor optimized for performance and cost. A source interviewed by Reuters said the new processor was at least 20 per cent faster than the first-generation ARM chip.
The chip, from the British company ARM Holdings, aims to take the lead in the market by Intel and AMD. On the one hand, Intel has almost monopolized 99 per cent of the server chip market, but in recent years, ARM has established itself as a strong competitor in the server sector.
The new Amazon chip has not yet been officially released, but is expected to use ARM's Neoverse N1 technology and has at least 32 cores, twice as many as the previous ARM chip.
