At the end of May, Apple updated its high-end MacBook Pro model, and it's time to make some updates to the entry-level MacBook Pro (formerly known as MacBook Escape) and MacBook Air.

The basic MacBook Pro got the biggest update: it was finally overhauled after being ignored by Apple in 2017, adding Touch Bar and touch ID (sorry, physical keyboard fan) and a brand new Intel processor. The new entry-level MacBook Pro now offers 1.4GHz quad-core eighth-generation core i5 chip (upgradable to 3.9GHz) to replace Apple's 2.3GHz dual-core seventh-generation core i5 chipset, which has been provided by Apple for more than two years. The elephant in the room is still the keyboard, with the butterfly mechanism that Apple has used in the past few years. Apple recently updated the third-generation mechanism, including the MacBook Pro update in May, and Apple said the updated new material third-generation keyboard will appear on the updated Air and entry-level Pro. Given the recent changes in new materials designed by the third generation, we may have to wait until more people have the opportunity to use the new keyboard to see if they are prone to failure.
