What is object storage?
What is object storage? I believe that many inexperienced people are at a loss about this, so this article summarizes the causes and solutions of the problem. Through this article, I hope you can solve this problem.
Object storage definition: a general term used to describe methods for solving and dealing with discrete units. Objects no longer have a hierarchical structure in a layer structure and are characterized by extended metadata.
To put it simply, it is a large hard disk with unlimited space in a cloud service. Officially, it is a distributed storage service based on a distributed operating system.
The metaphor of "valet parking"
Object storage is often compared to valet parking in a fancy restaurant. When a customer needs valet parking, he gives the key to someone else in exchange for a receipt. The customer does not need to know where his car is parked or how many times the waiter will move the car while he is eating. In this metaphor, the unique identifier of a storage object represents the customer's receipt.
Available feature servic
You can upload and download files through API/SDK. Storage is the foundation, on which you can use image processing service (image files in storage are used after image processing), media transcoding service (stored audio and video files are converted after calling media transcoding service, multi-end adaptation or CDN distribution after slicing). You can also cooperate with the log service SLS to store the collected logs in OSS to facilitate future analysis.
Most commonly, users put static files on ECS or physical servers on OSS to separate the movement of the architecture. Make full use of the characteristics of large cloud storage cluster (high concurrency support, unlimited expansion support, that is, low pre-use cost and good scalability) to effectively reduce the load of the server and improve the performance of Icano.
