Apple hopes to premiere in cinemas a few weeks before Apple TV and movie streaming is released.

According to the Wall Street Journal (Wall Stre etJournal), Apple hopes to show exclusive movies in cinemas for a few weeks before it offers original films in its online streaming service.

The strategic move aims to attract top Hollywood directors and producers who still like to watch the premiere of their work in traditional cinemas, which runs counter to Netflix's strategy that its content must be broadcast in theaters at the same time as the service.

Showing a film in a cinema also qualifies the content for the award. We heard that Apple is hiring campaign strategists in Hollywood to give it its best chance of winning Oscars and Emmys. According to today's report, Apple has also hired Gregory Foster to help develop this strategy. Foster used to lead the entertainment department of IMAX.

Apple's first film, a documentary called the Elephant Queen, will be shown on Apple TV on November 1. Apple will also show the documentary in theaters so it can qualify for next year's awards season, the Wall Street Journal reported.

The company is also preparing to release its first major film, Rock and Roll (Rushda Jones). Assuming an agreement can be reached, the film could premiere at the Cannes Film Festival, followed by a theatrical premiere and then watched by millions of Apple users on Apple TV.

Apple doesn't want to make money by selling tickets at the box office. The theater is a tool for Apple to attract talent to provide content for its services, and it is also a mechanism for participating in the dialogue of famous awards.

Update: anonymous sources close to the projects told Variety that Apple has three original film release dates. It is reported that the Elephant Queen will be released in theaters on October 18, the original on November 22 and the Banker on December 6, all before the film hits Apple TV.
