On May 10, 2020, Windows Update finally ranked first among all versions of Microsoft's desktop operating system based on the latest statistics from AdDuplex. However, the May 2020 update climbed only a few percentage points in October. AdDuplex's latest report shows that it has reached 37.7%, only 4% higher than the 33.7% updated in September.

This is not much higher in the big plan, especially given that the update in May 2020 experienced a substantial increase of 9.6% between August and September. Even so, it still lags behind the curve compared to previous upgrades, as we discussed in detail last month.

Of course, in the course of this month, the October 2020 update (a follow-up to the May 2020 update) accounted for 1.7% of the market (AdDuplex statistics were compiled using data collected from the Microsoft Store app, by the way, with more than 100000 Windows 10 PC samples).

Peak usage

Of course, we can expect that the pace of the update in October 2020 will accelerate greatly for the rest of the year, and the update will undoubtedly peak in May 2020. It must be said that this is an impressive peak compared with Microsoft's historical adoption rate of various updates.

Especially if you think that upgrading to October 2020 is a very fast and easy operation for existing users who update in May 2020, you only need to gently press the enable switch, and they are likely to upgrade in a short time. Of course, those users who are still using last year's Windows 10 update will skip to the October 2020 update anyway.
