Apple will debut on CES in January, but the company will not show new products. As Bloomberg pointed out.

Apple will talk about consumer privacy instead. Jane Hawass, Apple's senior privacy director, will join the privacy managers of Facebook and Procter & Gamble. Gamble and the Federal Trade Commission at the Chief Privacy Officer Roundtable. The round table will focus on "consumer needs" in the area of privacy. The meeting will be held on Tuesday, 7th January, at 1:00 in Room N257, North Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center. Attendance information is included in the registration of CES.

Privacy is now a strategic priority for all consumer companies. "the future is private" (Facebook); "privacy is a human right" (Apple); and "more private networks" (Google). How does the company establish privacy on a large scale? Is the regulatory meeting piecemeal? Most importantly, what do consumers want?

Apple stopped participating in the CES in the 1990s and made its last official debut at the 1992 Chicago Motor Show. Then CEO John Scully introduced Apple Newton.

Although Apple hasn't officially joined the CES yet, it does send employees to the show to test emerging technologies. Last year, Apple also promoted its privacy policy on a huge privacy-centric billboard near the Las Vegas convention center, which read: "whatever happens to iPhone, it will stay on iPhone." .
