Google releases December security patch for Android 10 to address key security vulnerabilities

Google released a December 2019 Android security patch for its latest line of Android 10 mobile operating systems to address some of the most critical security vulnerabilities.

Composed of December 1, 2019 and December 5, 2019 security patch levels, the December 2019 Android security patch addresses Android components, Android framework, media framework, Android system, kernel components, and Qualcomm components, including closed source components.

It is understood that the most critical security issues fixed in this update affect Framework components and may allow remote attackers to permanently deny service. In addition, it fixes a vulnerability that may allow remote attackers to execute arbitrary code in the context of a privileged process by using specially crafted files, and the vulnerability may allow local attackers with privileged access to access sensitive data.

At the same time, Google also issued the December 2019 Pixel Update announcement to address various security vulnerabilities and problems for Pixel devices, as well as the security vulnerabilities described in the December 2019 Android security announcement. The December 2019 Pixel update bulletin contains fixes for a total of 8 vulnerabilities found in kernel components and Android systems.

Currently, the December 2019 Android Security Bulletin and December 2019 Pixel Update Bulletin will be available to all supported Pixel devices, including Pixel 2Magi Pixel 2 XL,Pixel 3m Pixel 3 XL,Pixel 3a M Pixel 3a XL,Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL. In the coming weeks, it will also be available for Essential,Samsung,OnePlus and other Android devices from more manufacturers.
