Apple Map car appears to prepare for iOS 10 Map Service
Apple is rumored to be launching the iOS 10 and its improved mapping service this summer, and the company's map fleet is indeed busy on roads everywhere, even at night.
Since its first exposure, more and more Apple mapping cars have appeared in front of everyone. According to a photo provided by foreign media Apple Insider netizens, we immediately recognized the Apple Map car that was "working overtime" on the highway outside New York City after dark. In addition, many people have seen it in and around Boston late at night.
After months of mystery, Apple finally acknowledged the existence of the map data project last June. Now, the company has also released a list of where cars will appear in the future. The sensors attached to the car-cameras, lidar, highly sensitive GPS, etc.-all look a lot like Google Maps / Street View cars. The project appears to include the collection of both ground and environmental data, the former verifying road maps and the latter scanning the depth and photos of surrounding areas.
It is reported that Apple is expected to announce the next generation of mobile operating system iOS 10 at the WWDC 2016 Global developer Conference in June.
