When Fortnite first released it for mobile devices, the game did not apply to Google's Play store. However, Epic announced today that Fortnite will continue to use it in the Google Play store, where Android users can now officially use it.

Just a few years after its launch through Epic Games, Fortnite is now available in Google Play stores.

In the past, Fortnite seemed to have a purpose, so it stayed away from Google's Play store. Epic told The Verge in 2019 that it had asked Google to give up the 30 per cent discount it charged for in-app purchases. Google didn't give them any such exemptions, so Fortnite never showed up in the Google Play store.

However, Epic said in a statement sent to Android Central on Tuesday that the change was due to Google's claim that it had "flaws" in applications outside the Google Play Store.

After 18 months of running Fortnite on an Android platform other than Google's Play store, we have basically achieved:

Google puts technology and business measures at a disadvantage outside of Google Play through technical and business measures, such as terrifying downloads and updates of software, repeated security pop-ups, restrictive manufacturer and operator agreements and transactions, and Google PR that describes third-party software sources as malware. And new initiatives such as Google Play Protect to completely block software purchased outside Google's Play store.

So we launched Android Fortnite in Google's Play store. We will continue to operate epic game apps and Fortnite outside of Google Games.

We hope that Google will change its policy and business contacts in the near future so that all developers can freely connect and do business with customers on Android and Play stores through open services, including payment services, and compete with Google. A level playing field.
