Shulou(Shulou.com)05/31 Report--
The second legal battle between Apple and Samsung is coming to an end, and Apple has won again. A U.S. court found Samsung infringed two Apple patents, and the company must now pay $119.625 million in damages. Regarding Galaxy II losses, the jury will return to the jury on Monday, and the final amount is said to be slightly increased.
Because Apple wants to achieve this goal, it is not a victory, because the company claims to own five patents and seeks compensation of $2.2 billion, but the court found that Samsung violated only five patents and reduced the fine to $119 million.
The patent in question has two features, namely the quick link feature, which generates numbers and links to websites in messages (patent 647) and the famous slide unlock feature (patent 721). Another patent (Patent 172) was on the word autocomplete, but this one was fired because it was found to be infringed.
In addition to lowering the maximum value of damages, Apple must also pay Samsung compensation because the company was found to have infringed one of Samsung's two patents, which relate to organizing photos and videos in galleries (the other patents were not found to have been infringed). As a result, Apple will have to pay Samsung a relatively small $158,400.
To be honest, these two companies are just a drop in the ocean, but Apple, for its part, has been sending messages to Samsung. But since Apple itself was found to have infringed patents, this time it seems obvious.
