According to Bloomberg, Apple plans to revamp its Apple Store mobile app, which specializes in hardware, to follow Amazon's example and recommend new products to users using their purchasing history.

­Apple will update its retail app in the next two weeks, which may include a "For You" tag, recommending products to users based on their previous purchases, according to people familiar with the matter.

­although the iPhone and iPad versions of the Apple Store app are currently different, the new app will be compatible with the two devices and provide the same basic features and interface, according to people familiar with the matter. But Apple declined to comment.

­the offer of user referrals marks a big change for Apple, which has previously refused to use user behavior data to generate revenue because of privacy concerns. Although its streaming music and news apps recommend songs and news to users, it is mainly based on the direction of interest chosen by users.

By contrast, Amazon and Google usually mine users' previous tastes and buying habits and recommend relevant content on this basis, thereby generating more revenue.
