After connecting to a malicious Wi-Fi network, an attacker can set the date in the iOS device to January 1, 1970, thereby turning it into a brick. Of course, if your device has been upgraded to iOS 9.3.1, you won't be affected by this problem, because Apple has fixed it in this upgrade. But before Apple fixes this malicious Wi-Fi vulnerability, attackers will come up with other malicious attacks.
