He pointed out that 5G currently faces huge challenges. China has invested trillions of yuan in 5G construction, ranking first in the world, and will continue to invest trillions of yuan in the world. Huawei and other companies have led the world in 5G technology and patent licensing, ranking first in the world.

However, there are no 5G applications at all. He believes that 5G applications should be defined as those that cannot operate smoothly under 4G and require 5G bandwidth services.

"it is not the right way for operators to force users to purchase upgraded 5G services by artificially reducing 4G rates and bandwidth."

Sun Wei said that the promotion and popularity of 4G mainly depends on two killer applications, live streaming and short video, which is a good inspiration for the promotion of 5G. Live streaming and short viewing, two killer 4G applications, require bandwidth that the previous 2G / 3G could not support, so users switch to 4G to watch.

In his view, 5G killer applications should have the following characteristics:

5G network is required for use, and 4G cannot operate smoothly.

It is novel, entertaining and can drive users to switch to 5G.

It must be for C-end consumers, not industrial applications.
