CTOnews.com, Aug. 11 (Xinhua) according to the Nikkei News, Toshitaro Furukawa, president of video game giant Nintendo, said that he is not considering raising the price of its flagship game console Switch to help ease the growing gap in production and transportation costs so as not to scare away consumers.

"We compete in a global multi-entertainment environment, and we always think about pricing in terms of the entertainment value we provide," Gukawa said. " He said Nintendo has sold 100m Switch games so far, which is important to maintain the momentum of the company's overall business.

In early August, Nintendo confirmed that it had no plans to raise Nintendo Switch prices in Japan. Bloomberg recently asked publishers and other console makers Microsoft and Sony about this possibility. Nintendo responded that there were "no plans" to raise prices.

At present, the yen is depreciating, falling 21% in the past year. As a result, electronics manufacturers have been slightly raising the price of electronics to compensate. Currently, with the exception of Japan, game consoles around the world are $100 cheaper. All three mainframe developers have reason to worry that raising mainframe prices will make players and developers uncompetitive.
