CTOnews.com, August 20 (Xinhua)-- Apple today updated its iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro service plans for "silent" issues.

Apple said the plan provides protection for affected iPhone 12 or iPhone 12 Pro devices and is valid for three years from the date of the first retail sale of the device. Previously, it was within two years after the first retail sale.

CTOnews.com has learned that Apple has previously confirmed that a very small number of iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro devices may have sound problems due to a possible failure of a component on the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro handset modules. The production date of the affected equipment is between October 2020 and April 2021.

Apple noted that if a user's iPhone 12 or iPhone 12 Pro does not make a sound when dialing or answering a phone, the device may be eligible for service. Apple or its authorized service provider will provide free maintenance for eligible devices.

It should be noted that the iPhone 12 mini and iPhone 12 Pro Max models are not covered by this program. In addition, Apple may limit the repair area to the country or region where it was originally purchased; this Apple global program will not extend the standard warranty coverage of iPhone 12 or iPhone 12 Pro. The consumer rights law rights of users are not affected by this scheme.
