CTOnews.com Apple plans to produce the iPhone 14 in India about two months after the launch of the new iPhone 14, narrowing the gap between the production time of the new iPhone in India and China, but not completely without a time difference as some had expected.

Apple has been working with suppliers to step up production in India and shorten the lag time for making new iPhones in India, which typically lags China by six to nine months, according to people familiar with the matter.

Apple has not responded to requests for comment as of press time.

According to previous reports, Apple's Chinese supplier Lucent Precision and iPhone assembler Foxconn have started trial production of Apple Watch and MacBook in northern Vietnam. Earlier this year, Apple began manufacturing the iPhone 13 in India, a move widely seen as an effort to diversify its supply chain.

CTOnews.com learned that Tianfeng International analyst Guo Mingxi broke the news on Twitter earlier this month, saying that according to his latest survey, Apple will ship the new 6.1-inch iPhone 14 in India almost at the same time as China for the first time. Previously, India usually shipped a quarter later than China.
