Former Security Director of Twitter: Twitter has no idea the true number of robot accounts.

On the evening of August 23, Beijing time, it was reported that Peiter Zatko, the former security director of Twitter, said that Twitter executives did not have enough resources to fully understand the true number of robot accounts on its platform.

Zatko is a well-known hacker who was appointed director of security at Twitter two years ago. In January, Twitter announced that Zatko would leave for unknown reasons.

According to the latest news, Zatko filed a complaint with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the US Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) against Twitter last month, accusing Twitter of serious loopholes in security and spam accounts and misleading regulators.

Zatko says Twitter executives don't have enough resources to fully understand the true number of robot accounts on the Twitter platform. Moreover, they have little incentive to understand. It is well known that Twitter is currently involved in a legal dispute with Tesla CEO Elon Musk (Elon Musk) because of the problem of robot accounts (spam accounts).

Twitter said in a regulatory filing that the number of robot accounts on its platform was less than 5 per cent of the total. But Mr Musk is sceptical, saying the proportion of fake Twitter users could be as high as 20 per cent. The judge will hear the case for five days on October 17.

Zatko and Musk have not yet commented on the report, while a spokesman for Twitter said he was fired in January for poor leadership and poor performance.
