LG Innotek vs. Samsung Electric, sources say it is negotiating with Tesla: the order is worth 1 trillion won
August 26, according to foreign media reports, early last month, a source revealed that Samsung Motor, an electronic parts supplier under Samsung, beat LG Innotek and others in the bidding, and finally won a large order for Tesla's camera module, with an order estimated at 4 trillion-5 trillion won, that is, US $32-4 billion. Samsung Motor will also replace LG Innotek to become Tesla's largest camera module supplier.
According to the latest reports from South Korean media, LG Innotek is also negotiating with Tesla on the supply of camera modules, worth 1 trillion won.
South Korean media reported that they were in negotiations with Tesla according to the information publicly disclosed by LG Innotek, but LG Innotek said that the negotiations were still in progress and there was no definite news, but they also said that they planned to disclose the relevant information again within a month after the specific details were confirmed.
According to sources, if LG Innotek and Tesla finally reach an agreement, they will supply camera modules for Tesla's super factory in Austin, Texas. This super factory is already producing Model Y and its production capacity continues to increase.
Although LG Innotek and Tesla are in negotiations on the supply of camera modules, according to previous foreign media reports, even if they get an order of 1 trillion won, it will be lower than Samsung Motor's 4 trillion-5 trillion won, which means their share in Tesla camera module will be much lower than Samsung Motor.
