Heat wave alleviated, Apple suppliers Foxconn and Toyota successfully resumed work in Sichuan.
Beijing, Aug. 28 (Xinhua) Apple suppliers Foxconn and Toyota have resumed work after an order to stop operations expired on Thursday, as the record-breaking heat wave in Sichuan Province eased.
Given the economic impact on Sichuan, the authorities appear to be giving priority to supplying power to Foxconn, also known as Hon Hai Precision Industries, which assembles Apple's Apple Watch, iPad and MacBook products, a person close to the factory confirmed.
Prior to this, due to extreme high temperature and other reasons, the relevant departments have issued a notice to set the power cut period from August 15 to 20. However, due to the fact that the high temperature weather has not improved significantly, the tension between power supply and demand has further intensified. On August 20, the Sichuan Economic Information Office and the Sichuan Electric Power Company of the State Grid issued a notice extending the power limit period to 25 days, making the total time limit extended to 11 days.
