Musk blasted environmentalists: shutting down nuclear power plants is "anti-human" behavior

Tesla CEO Elon Musk believes that some environmentalists advocate shutting down nuclear power plants as "anti-human," a move that is "crazy" for national security.

"Countries should increase nuclear power generation! From a national security perspective, shutting down nuclear power is crazy and bad for the environment. Musk wrote in a tweet.

Some Twitter users shared his views. "Nuclear energy is clean, efficient and, if accepted, can completely replace fossil fuels. But so-called environmentalists do not accept that this is anti-human behavior. "

Musk replied: "Some people are truly pathetic 'anti-human'. "

A report submitted to Congress last year showed that the United States had permanently shut down 12 nuclear reactors since 2012. According to the International Atomic Energy Agency, 203 reactors have been shut down, generating 98000 megawatts of electricity.

But in addition to warning of population collapse, which he believes poses a greater threat to humanity than global warming, Musk has been a staunch supporter of nuclear energy as a renewable energy source, especially in the face of the post-conflict surge in oil and gas prices.

In an interview in March, Musk was outspoken about his support for nuclear power, which he believes is vital until other energy sources such as solar power become more reliable. "I want to be super clear. Not only should nuclear power plants not be shut down, but closed ones should also be reopened. These are the fastest ways to produce energy. Shutting down nuclear power plants now would be crazy. "

He added: "If there is no risk of large-scale natural disasters, such as Germany, then nuclear power plants are really not dangerous. "
