In the first half of the year, the National Railway Group achieved a total operating income of 485.7 billion yuan, a decrease of 27.1 billion yuan compared with the same period last year, and a net profit loss of 80.4 billion yuan, of which the loss in the second quarter was 34.3 billion yuan, 11.8 billion yuan lower than that in the first quarter.

CTOnews.com learned that the National Railway Group said that the main reason for the net profit loss was the spread of the epidemic at multiple points, which had a greater impact on railway transport operations, especially passenger transport and diversified operations. In the first half of the year, passenger transport revenue was 96.5 billion yuan, down 59.9 billion yuan or 38.3% from the same period last year.

In terms of railway construction, the National Railway Group's financial final accounts data for the first half of the year show that the country's railways have completed an investment of 285.3 billion yuan in fixed assets, 2.1% more than last year's progress plan, and put into production 2043.5 km of new lines, including 995.9 km of high-speed rail.

The National Railway Group pointed out that a number of key projects such as Hangzhou-Taizhou high-speed railway, Huanggang-Huangmei high-speed railway, Xiangyang-Wanzhou section of Zhengzhou-Chongqing high-speed railway, Puyang-Zhengzhou section of Jinan-Zhengzhou high-speed railway, Hotan-Ruoqiang railway, Aksu-Alar railway, Beijing Fengtai station and Zhengzhou airport station have been opened with high quality. Positive progress has been made in construction of the Sichuan-Tibet Railway, Chengdu-Lanzhou Railway, Dali-Ruili Railway and Lijiang-Shangri-La Railway.
