According to foreign media reports, Lee Jae-yong, vice chairman of Samsung Electronics and the actual controller of Samsung Group, who was granted amnesty and returned to the front line of operation and management this month, visited the headquarters of Samsung SDS, its IT service unit, on Tuesday, local time.

A visit to Samsung's SDS headquarters on Tuesday was Mr Lee's first visit to the headquarters of Samsung's business, highlighting their focus on information technology services, foreign media reported.

Analysts also believe that Mr Lee's move means that Samsung SDS, which is mainly responsible for Samsung's IT subsidiary and logistics business, is already very important.

According to foreign media reports, at the headquarters of Samsung SDS, Lee Jae-yong discussed the medium-and long-term business strategy with Hwang Seong-woo, president of the subsidiary, who reported to him on the state of the digital twin and meta-universe market, the global recruitment of IT services and software talent, and said they would continue to invest more to become a high-level cloud technology company.

Founded in 1985, Samsung SDS, a subsidiary of Samsung Group, provides IT services including consulting services, technical services and outsourced services. They are also actively developing artificial intelligence and Internet of things technologies.

According to foreign media reports, although Lee Jae-yong visited Samsung SDS's headquarters for the first time on Tuesday, he is actually a major shareholder of the company, with a 9.02% stake, while Samsung Electronics, whose vice chairman holds 22.58%, is the largest shareholder.
