The total investment of the south inter-city railway along the Yangtze River is about 51.665 billion yuan. The construction of the first section started on October 8, 2018. So far, a total investment of 41.6313 billion yuan has been completed, accounting for 80.58%.

CTOnews.com learned that the south inter-city railway along the Yangtze River starts at Nanjing South Railway Station and ends at Taicang Station. After connecting the Shanghai-Suzhou Railway, it is introduced into the Shanghai hub with a designed speed of 350km / h and a total length of 278.53 km. Eight stations are planned to be set up in Nanjing South, Jurong, Jintan, Wujin, Jiangyin, Zhangjiagang, Changshu and Taicang. As the second inter-city railway between Shanghai and Nanjing, when the south inter-city railway along the Yangtze River is completed and opened to traffic, it will undertake the intercity passenger flow along the corridor and between the cities along the line and the main axis of Shanghai and Nanjing, and further promote the integration of Jurong, Jiangyin, Zhangjiagang, Changshu and Taicang into the Shanghai-Nanjing one-hour high-speed railway circle.
