Chen Dong and Liu Yang have safely returned to the experimental module to ask the sky, and the extravehicular activities have been a complete success.

18:26 Beijing time on September 1, 2022, astronaut Chen Dong successfully opened the airlock exit door of the experimental module. By 19:09, astronaut Chen Dong and astronaut Liu Yang successfully got out of the module. During this period, astronaut Cai Xuzhe supported two extravehicular astronauts in the core cabin to carry out extravehicular operations.

This is the first time that Chinese astronauts have carried out extravehicular activities from the airlock of the experimental module, and it is also the first time that Chen Dong and Liu Yang have carried out extravehicular activities.

CTOnews.com learned that the Shenzhou-14 manned spacecraft was successfully launched on June 5. Since then, three astronauts, Chen Dong, Liu Yang and Cai Xuzhe, have launched a six-month mission.

According to the China manned Space Engineering Office, since successfully entering the space station assembly on June 5, the Shenzhou 14 astronaut crew has lived and worked in orbit for 88 days. It has successively completed the material transfer of the cargo spacecraft, the on-orbit test of the platform of the space module, the unlocking and testing of the scientific experiment cabinet, the unlocking and on-orbit testing of the small manipulator, and the management of the space station assembly. It has carried out daily work such as on-orbit medical examination, weightlessness protection exercise and space science test, and carried out on-orbit emergency evacuation drills, small manipulator operation, medical rescue drills and other on-orbit training projects.
