CTOnews.com, September 4 (Xinhua)-- Kia sold 66089 cars in the United States in August, up 22% from a year earlier and the best August sales ever. However, sales so far this year totaled 461878 vehicles, still 8 per cent lower than in 2021.

Another good news for Kia is that its sales of new energy vehicles-- XEV (pure electric vehicles, plug-in hybrid vehicles, hybrid vehicles)-- increased by 151% year-on-year, although no specific figures were given.

The pure electric Kia EV6 is said to have shipped 1840 vehicles (2.8 per cent of total sales) in August, up slightly from July.

CTOnews.com has learned that Kia EV6 has sold 16124 vehicles in the United States so far this year and is expected to sell more than 25000 new cars by the end of the year, on a par with Hyundai Ioniq 5.

Eric Watson, vice president of American sales and operations at Kia, said:

In view of the continuing supply problems throughout the industry, the completion of the new August sales record is a testament to the efforts of our product lineup, our dealers and our employees. We are optimistic that by the end of this year, the production of our brand new EV6 and the soon-to-be redesigned Telluride will increase and achieve further success. "
