CTOnews.com learned that 12:52 on September 5, a magnitude 6.8 earthquake occurred in Luding County, Ganzi Prefecture, Sichuan Province (29.59N, 102.08 E) with a focal depth of 16km.

This afternoon, the "9 ·5" Luding earthquake relief provincial, city (state) county front command held a press conference in Shimian County, Ya'an City, Sichuan Province, announcing that as of 14:00 on September 7, the earthquake had killed 74 people, including 40 people were killed in Ganzi Prefecture, 34 people were killed in Ya'an City, and 35 people were missing.
