Intel denies that it has no plans to build a manufacturing plant in India.

CTOnews.com, Sept. 7, according to Reuters, Intel said in a statement today that it has no current plans to build a manufacturing plant in India. Earlier today, India's transport minister said Intel would build a semiconductor manufacturing plant in India.

CTOnews.com learned that in April, it was reported that India was in talks with chipmakers Intel, GE Core and TSMC to set up semiconductor plants in India.

Earlier, the Indian government announced a $10 billion incentive scheme at the end of last year, offering incentives of up to 50 per cent of project costs to attract display and semiconductor manufacturers to set up bases in India.

Intel reported second-quarter revenue of $15.321 billion, down 22 per cent from a year earlier, while a net loss of $454 million, down 109 per cent from a year earlier.
