Apple has removed its official website and will discontinue production of the "old" Apple Watch Series 3, the Apple Watch SE 2, as a substitute.

CTOnews.com, Sept. 8 (Xinhua)-- with the launch of the new Apple Watch Series 8 model and the newer Apple Watch SE 2, Apple officially removed its shelves and stopped production of the outdated Apple Watch Series 3, which had previously been sold at a low price of $199.

Since its launch in 2017, the Apple Watch Series 3 has been designed to be the same as the original Apple Watch model and does not use the larger case that Apple began to introduce in the Series 4 model. It was the first Apple Watch to provide cellular connectivity when it was launched.

The Apple Watch Series 3 is equipped with the Apple S3 chip, an older, slower Apple Watch chip model. The performance of Apple Watch Series 3 is weak, and its power support is significantly insufficient compared with modern Apple Watch models. In the past few years, Apple Watch Series 3 has generally not been recommended.

Apple's low-cost Apple Watch option is now the $249 Apple Watch SE 2, which has newer chips and more modern designs than the Apple Watch Series 3.

Apple's Apple Watch Series 3 is expected to stop production because the device cannot run watchOS 9, which is only compatible with Series 4 and later. Apple Watch Series 3 is limited to watchOS 8 and will not receive further major operating system updates.
