IC Insights: TSMC Q3 is expected to overtake Samsung, the first global semiconductor leader

CTOnews.com September 8 news, the global semiconductor companies ranking may usher in a reshuffle, according to research and research institutions IC Insights estimated that TSMC revenue in the second quarter has surpassed Intel, leaping to the second place in the world, is expected to surpass Samsung again in the third quarter, thus ascending the semiconductor leading position for the first time.

According to IC Insights, Samsung Semiconductor Q2 has revenue of $22.623 billion, making it the largest semiconductor factory in the world, while TSMC's revenue is only $18.164 billion, just surpassing Intel's $14.861 billion.

Due to the poor performance of the memory chip market, Samsung big customers such as Qualcomm and Nvidia have left. ICInsights expects Samsung Q3 revenue to fall to $18.29 billion, down 19% from the previous month.

IC Insights estimates that TSMC's Q3 revenue is expected to break through the US $20 billion mark to reach US $20.2 billion, an increase of 11% over the second quarter, and surpass Samsung to reach the top for the first time, while Intel's Q3 revenue is about US $15.04 billion, an increase of about 1% from the previous month, maintaining the third place in the world.

CTOnews.com learned that TSMC was the third-largest semi-conductor factory in the world in 2021, with annual revenue of $56.84 billion, about 31 per cent lower than Samsung's $82.019 billion.
