On September 8, according to foreign media reports, memory chip maker Samsung Electronics said on Wednesday that it had begun to operate the P3 chip production line in Pyeongtaek Park, South Korea.

According to reports, Samsung's P3 production line, equipped with Dutch chip equipment manufacturer Asmai's EUV lithography machine, will first produce state-of-the-art NAND flash chips from July this year, and may also produce application processors and other semiconductors in the future.

It is reported that Samsung has five semiconductor factories in South Korea, which are located in Qixing, Huacheng, Pyeongze, Wenyang and Cheonan. In addition, the company operates three chip plants in Suzhou, Tianjin and Xi'an in China, as well as one in Austin, Texas.

In addition, the company is building another chip plant in Austin, Texas, with an investment of $17 billion that will create 2000 cutting-edge jobs and is scheduled to start production in the second half of 2024.

In July this year, foreign media reported that Samsung Electronics plans to invest nearly $200 billion to build 11 chip plants in Texas over the next 20 years.

It is reported that of the 11 chip factories, two will be located in Austin and the remaining nine in Taylor, with investments of US $24.5 billion and US $167.6 billion respectively. Of these, the first plant will be operational in 2034 and two more will not be operational until 2042.
