According to the news on September 9, the Environmental Development Center of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment recently released the report on pollution reduction and carbon reduction in the whole life cycle of shared cycling (hereinafter referred to as the report), which is the first time to measure the pollution reduction and carbon reduction effects of shared bicycles and motorcycles from the perspective of the whole life cycle, that is, from the perspective of vehicle production, use, and then to environmental recycling.

The report shows that through life cycle management measures, the carbon footprint of a Meituan motorcycle and bike has been reduced by 114kg and 84kg respectively.

In comparison, the carbon reduction effect of shared motorcycles is more significant. A Meituan motorcycle cycle cycle carbon reduction of nearly 1 ton, offset the carbon emissions generated in the same period, the whole life cycle net carbon reduction of 558kg. The net carbon reduction of a single Meituan bike in the whole life cycle is 214kg.

According to the data, the total input of the shared motorcycle industry in 2021 is 8 million. Based on the four-year life cycle of each vehicle, the industry can further reduce more than 1 million tons of carbon per year after neutralizing its own carbon emissions. If only operational carbon reduction is calculated, the actual carbon reduction effect of shared motorcycles far exceeds this data. According to the "shared Motorcycle low carbon report", the industry can reduce carbon by 1.636 million tons per year.
