CTOnews.com, September 10 (Xinhua)-- Intel China officially announced a donation of 2 million yuan to the China Rural Development Foundation to support earthquake relief and post-disaster reconstruction of the Luding earthquake in Sichuan.

Wang Rui, senior vice president of Intel and chairman of Intel China, said: "Intel has been rooted in Sichuan for nearly 20 years since it established its factory in Chengdu in 2003, sharing weal and woe with our local employees, partners and communities. we hope to help people in the earthquake area restore their lives as soon as possible and rebuild their homes as soon as possible."

Intel's donation will be mainly used for the procurement of emergency supplies such as tents, food and drinking water, as well as post-disaster reconstruction. Intel will also provide support for laptops and related digital equipment for the special needs of earthquake relief.

CTOnews.com learned that 12:52 on September 5, a magnitude 6.8 earthquake occurred in Luding County, Ganzi Prefecture, Sichuan Province (29.59N, 102.08 E), with a focal depth of 16km and a wide range of disasters.
