Officials say Disney's live-action giant Little Mermaid will be directed by Chicago Oscar director Rob Marshall and reproduced by Hollywood's top music producer Lin Manuel Miranda.
CTOnews.com learned that the Little Mermaid is based on a 1989 film by John Musk and Ron Clements, which is based on Hans Christian Andersen's 19th-century fairy tale and tells the story of Ariel, the youngest daughter of King Triton of Atlanta.
