CCTV reported that the first two large parts of the Airbus A321 aircraft were successfully unloaded at the Pacific International Container Terminal in Tianjin Port and will arrive at the Airbus General Assembly Line on the 13th, marking the official commissioning of the Airbus A321 aircraft on the only Airbus final assembly line in Asia (Airbus Tianjin General Assembly Line).

According to the person in charge, this is the core component of the first batch of A321 aircraft arriving in Hong Kong in the 15 years since the completion of the final assembly line of Airbus Asia A320 series aircraft, which is of landmark significance.

Compared with the A320, it has 24 per cent more seats and 40 per cent more space, the wing area is slightly expanded, two emergency exits are added to the front and rear of the wing, the landing gear is reinforced, and high-thrust CFM56 and V2500 engines are used. If it is a high-density cabin layout, it can accommodate up to 220 passengers.

According to CTOnews.com inquiry, the Airbus A321 started its construction program on November 24, 1989, carried the V2530 engine for the first flight on March 11, 1993, and flew with the CFM56 engine in May of the same year. On March 18, 1994, the Airbus A321 began service with Lufthansa. On the same day, the first A321 aircraft with a CFM56 engine was delivered to Alitalia.

At present, Airbus's four A320 series aircraft assembly lines around the world are now capable of producing and delivering A321 aircraft. As the only Airbus assembly line in Asia, it is of great significance to formally put into production the A321 model.
