CTOnews.com Sept. 12, Qunhui recently said that the on-demand synchronization feature announced at Synology 2022 is now open for testing. However, as this version is still a beta version, it is recommended that it not be used in important equipment and data as well as in the production environment to avoid accidents.

CTOnews.com learned that users who like to taste fresh need to upgrade to macOS 12.3 or above, download the dmg file to install, and click create synchronization Task after the installation is complete. Select the NAS folder you want to synchronize, check "enable on-demand synchronization" and give the task a name. The system will automatically generate a synchronized folder on the computer. Click "finish" to successfully create an on-demand synchronization task.

Qunhui said that this version of Drive client natively supports Apple M1 / M2 model, so there is no need to install Rosetta 2 translation; due to the limitation of Apple API, the on-demand synchronization task in macOS cannot customize the local path and can only use the system default path; similarly, due to the limitation of Apple API, the current on-demand synchronization task in macOS cannot be converted to ordinary tasks, nor can it use file filters and change the synchronization mode.
