According to the Apple release notes, HomePod software version 16 includes general performance and stability improvements.

The HomePod software is automatically installed on HomePod unless the feature is disabled, but you can also manually install the new system by following the HomePod update method below.

Open the home Home application.

Click the main Home icon in the upper left corner of the display.

If only one family is set up, this will go directly to the setup, so skip to step 5. If you have more than one family, click Family Settings on the pop-up worksheet.

Choose the family you want.

Scroll down to Software updates.

Pull down from the top of the iPhone or iPad screen to check for updates.

When you select Software updates, users will be able to see the current version of the installed HomePod software and turn off automatic updates as needed.

CTOnews.com learned that if updates are available, users can simply click the "install" button to update HomePod. If you have more than one HomePod at home, each HomePod will be updated at the same time through this software update feature.
