The V Society displays a variety of Steam Deck prototypes, as well as a two-person tall oversized version of the model.
CTOnews.com Sept. 14, Pierre-Loup Griffis, a member of the Steam Deck team of V Society, announced a number of Steam Deck prototypes developed since 2019.
As can be seen from the picture, the Steam Deck of V Society has undergone many design changes from the handmade prototype to the gradual mass production version, including the overall shape, color matching, keystroke layout, touchpad shape and so on.
Griffais also shows videos of Steam Deck prototypes running SteamOS and half-Life 2 (half-life 2). The prototype is equipped with AMD Picasso APU, and its GPU performance is only half that of the mass-produced custom Aerith APU.
In addition, V Society prepared an oversized Steam Deck model at the 2022 Tokyo Game Show, which looks close to two people tall, is still under construction, and the middle screen is expected to be available.
CTOnews.com learned that V News Agency had previously announced that Steam Deck would be available in Japan, South Korea, Taiwan and Hong Kong later this year, and reservations had been opened in these four regions.
The Hong Kong version of Steam Deck starts at 3288 Hong Kong dollars (about 2827.68 yuan), the Taiwan version starts at 13380 New Taiwan dollars (about 3023.88 yuan), the Japanese version starts at 59800 yen (about 3019.9 yuan), and the Korean version starts at 589000 won (about 3039.24 yuan).
In order to tie in with the launch of these major markets, Steam Deck officially announced the launch of a special version of the mascot Pal, an anthropomorphic Steam Deck handheld image with V Society's iconic valve on its head. The V Society said that Pal means "companion" and "friend" in English.
