Yesterday, Volkswagen Group announced new appointments, further increasing its emphasis on electric vehicles.

According to information posted on Volkswagen's website, Volkswagen's passenger car business is being restructured and Volkswagen will set up a new division called New Mobile Travel (New Mobility), which is mainly responsible for electric vehicles and digital areas. Meanwhile, Volkswagen appointed development director Thomas Ulbrich (Thomas Ulbrich) as head of the new department, who will be in charge of Volkswagen's current ID. A series of electric vehicles and future electric models, including the all-electric self-driving cars to be developed by Volkswagen under the Trinity project.

Thomas Sch ä fer, chairman of the Volkswagen passenger car brand management board and head of the volume brand group's business, said that with the establishment of the new division, the Volkswagen Group will combine the two strategic areas of electric vehicles and software development, which will help accelerate the pace of innovation of the Volkswagen Group.

As previously reported by CTOnews.com, Volkswagen fired its CEO, Herbert Diess, on July 22, and the new CEO was Oliver Blume, the CEO of Volkswagen Porsche. Bloom expressed support for his predecessor's electric car strategy on his first day in office, but he also said traditional internal combustion engines could also play a role in reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
