CTOnews.com September 15 news, today, Counterpoint released a report said that in 2021, China contributed 67% of global mobile phone production, mainly because Apple and other Chinese OEMs failed to fully fill the gap caused by Huawei's decline in production. In 2020, Huawei will account for a large part of China's total production.

Counterpoint said that unlike Huawei, which mainly produces mobile phones in China, other Chinese OEMs are diversifying their production bases to meet local market demand by producing in their own countries. Apple, which has a high proportion of production in China, is also seeking to diversify its production base. As Chinese consumer demand for mobile phones decreases, the proportion of Chinese production is expected to decline in the future.

India accounted for 16% of global mobile phone production in 2021, the report said. Driven by Apple, Xiaomi and OPPO, India, as the second largest mobile phone production region in the world, has increased its production by more than 5% year-on-year. In addition, Vietnam accounted for 10% of total global mobile phone production in 2021, similar to a year ago.

CTOnews.com has learned that Counterpoint expects global mobile phone market production to decline by 8% in 2022 compared to 2021. Starting in 2023, the mobile phone market is expected to maintain low single-digit percentage growth. Due to the slowdown in market growth and the continued downward pressure on the average selling price of mobile phones, mobile phone brand manufacturers may passively maintain a centralized production base to reduce costs.
