September 16, according to foreign media reports, data released by South Korea's Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy show that South Korean car exports increased by 35.9% in August compared with the same period last year, driven by increased demand for environmentally friendly vehicles, including electric vehicles.

According to figures from South Korea's Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, South Korea exported 168155 cars in August, with an export value of US $4.12 billion, the highest in August since the sector had export data.

South Korean car exports and exports rose sharply in August from a year earlier, thanks to strong demand for environmentally friendly cars.

According to South Korea's Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, exports of environmentally friendly cars in August were 40215, up 47 per cent from a year earlier, while exports were $1.22 billion, up 45.7 per cent from a year earlier.

According to the released data, environmentally friendly cars, including electric vehicles, already account for an important proportion of South Korea's car exports, accounting for 29.6% of South Korea's exports in August.
