TSMC spokesman Gao Menghua said some workers had been evacuated after the earthquake and then returned to work, according to Bloomberg. According to a report in Taiwan's United Daily News, TSMC said that according to the company's internal procedures, some people in the clean room in the southern plant have been evacuated to ensure safety, and the work safety system is normal.

CTOnews.com learned that according to the @ China Seismological Network Express report Weibo, the China Seismological Network officially determined that 21:41 on September 17, an earthquake of magnitude 6.5 occurred in Taitung County, Taiwan (23.05N, 121.21 E) with a focal depth of 10 km. The epicenter of the quake was located in Taitung County, 223 kilometers away from Taipei. The earthquake caused a strong earthquake in Taiwan, and it was clearly felt in Xiamen, Quanzhou and Fuzhou in Fujian, as well as in Guangzhou and Hangzhou.

Many aftershocks have occurred in this earthquake, including 1 aftershock of magnitude 5 or above and 3 aftershocks of magnitude 4.
