CTOnews.com, Sept. 18 (Xinhua)-- Apple plans to extend the "Smart Island" design for the debut of the iPhone 14 Pro to all four iPhone 15 series models to be released next year, according to display industry analyst Ross Young. The "Smart Island" feature is currently unique to iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max.

Ross Young said in a tweet that he expects Smart Island to be launched on the iPhone 15 standard model next year. However, he still believes that the iPhone 15 standard model will not have a LTPO display, indicating that these devices will continue to lack the all-weather AOD display options like the ProMotion support and the Pro model.

CTOnews.com learned that Smart Island was designed around the pill-like area of the Face ID sensor and front-facing camera on the iPhone 14 Pro series. This feature can display system alerts for things such as incoming calls and Face ID authentication prompts, and it can also be used with real-time activity features in third-party applications when iOS 16.1 is released later this year.
