Phoenix New Media Technology News Beijing time September 20 news, Mozilla has a new study found that even if users are not interested in some types of video in YouTube, but similar related videos will still appear.

Using video recommendation data from more than 20000 YouTube users, Mozilla researchers found that buttons such as "not interested", "dislike", "stop recommending channels" and "remove from viewing history" were largely ineffective in preventing similar content from being recommended. The report shows that even at the best of times, these buttons can still pass more than half of the recommendations, similar to content that users say they are not interested in. Unfortunately, these buttons do little to block similar videos.

"YouTube should respect user experience feedback," the researchers said. "

But Elena Hernandez, a spokesman for YouTube, said this was deliberate because the platform did not try to block content related to a topic.

Hernandez said the "not interested" option would delete specific videos, while the "do not recommend channel" button would prevent the channel from being recommended in the future.

YouTube says it won't stop recommending everything related to topics, ideas or speakers.
