CTOnews.com, September 21, the latest Canalys report shows that the growth of PC shipments (desktops, laptops and tablets) in India slowed to 12% to 4.6 million units in the second quarter of 2022. This is the first time in the last four quarters that the market's shipments have fallen below 5 million units.

Of these, notebook computers remained the largest category of shipments, reaching 2.6 million units, growing by only 2 per cent year-on-year due to restrained demand in the consumer market. Desktop shipments reached a record 900000 in the second quarter of 2022, an increase of 70 per cent year-on-year. Shipments of tablets rose 9% year-on-year to 1.1 million units.

According to the report, the top five shipments of personal computers (including tablets) in India in the second quarter of 2022 were Hewlett-Packard (25.0%), Lenovo (21.1%), Dell (11.5%), Acer (11.3%) and Samsung (5.8%).

CTOnews.com learned that Canalys said the Indian consumer market fell sharply by 12% in the second quarter, ending seven consecutive quarters of record growth. This segment accounted for 48 per cent of India's PC market in the second quarter, down from 61 per cent in the second quarter of 2021. In addition, the commercial market is up 50 per cent year-on-year and shipments now account for 52 per cent of India's PC market.
