According to foreign media reports, Samsung SDI's battery factory in Michigan, about an hour's drive from Detroit, was acquired in 2015, and it invested $62.7 million in 2018 to transform it into a battery assembly plant.

Instead of producing batteries from raw materials, Samsung SDI's battery factory in Michigan assembles their cells from the Goed plant in Hungary and supplies them to customers who have car factories in the United States.

According to foreign media reports, the customers of Samsung SDI's Michigan battery factory, currently mainly Strandis, are also benefiting from the increase in sales of this customer's plug-in hybrid vehicles, their first production line has begun to operate at full capacity.

Foreign media reported that Samsung SDI's second battery assembly line at the Michigan plant would be far less than the $62.7 million in 2018 and is expected to be only about half, as it will use some of the existing plant's infrastructure.
