CTOnews.com Sept. 26, a Sony PlayStation executive reiterated his previous commitment at a seminar last week that the first-party PlayStation paid game launch will not log on to PS Plus.

Speaking at GI Live 2022 on Wednesday, Hidehiro Yoshida, PlayStation's independent developer program director, discussed the expansion of the PS Plus service and how the company sees adding new games to the service at launch.

"the new PS Plus has all levels, and in essence it's like the old PS Plus. We still release two or three new games every month, while the new level has hundreds of games for people to play," Yoshida said.

I manage first-party games at PlayStation, so I know it's like a movie, which is shown in cinemas and then streamed to pay-per-view or subscription services, generating new revenue and reaching a wider audience each time.

Similarly, we believe that the inclusion of premium versions of games into PS Plus services at the time of game release and possibly six months, three months or three years later, when game sales decline, can help introduce these games to a new and wider audience.

He added: "some people may miss playing when the game is launched, and joining a subscription is a good opportunity to generate word of mouth, or if there is a DLC or sequel, we can help increase the wider audience's interest in franchises. Therefore, we encourage publishers to use these services to manage the life cycle of each work."

CTOnews.com learned that earlier this year, Sony Interactive Entertainment CEO Jim Ryan said that if games join PS Plus as soon as they debut, they "may be affected."
