Generally speaking, Samsung is the world's largest smartphone maker, according to CTOnews.com Sept. 26. However, it is not ahead of all competitors in every market. In some markets, Samsung is by far the leading brand. In other countries, such as Mexico, Samsung needs to continue to work hard.

Mexico has about 127 million active smartphone users, and Motorola, owned by Lenovo, is Mexico's leading OEM maker in the second quarter of 2022, with 28% of smartphone sales, according to a recent report.

Samsung was Mexico's second-largest OEM maker in the three months to June. The company accounted for 26% of smartphone sales for the entire quarter. Apple ranks third behind Samsung. Apple shares have risen 3% to 16% of the market.

Motorola's share grew by 5% in the second quarter of 2022, while Samsung's share was the same as last year. CTOnews.com learned that other noteworthy smartphone brands are Xiaomi, OPPO and Huawei. Xiaomi has 13 per cent of the market, while OPPO and Huawei have 11 per cent and 5 per cent respectively.
