Microsoft prevents some Intel PC from upgrading Win11 21H2 and 22H2 due to blue screen problems

CTOnews.com, September 27, the official version of Microsoft Windows 11 22H2 has been launched recently, but Windows 11 and some Intel processors seem to have some compatibility problems, which can cause blue screens.

In an announcement on Sept. 22, Microsoft said there was an incompatibility between Intel's 11-generation Core processor and some driver versions of Intel Intelligent Sound Technology (Intel SST) on Windows 11.

Windows 11 devices with affected Intel SST drivers may have a blue screen error. The affected driver will be named Intel ®Intelligent Sound Technology (Intel ®SST) audio controller under the device manager's system device, the file name is IntcAudioBus.sys, and the file version is 10.29.0.5152 or 10.30.0.5152.

Only devices that have both Intel 11 Coolet processors and Intel SST driver versions 10.29.0.5152 or 10.30.0.5152 will be affected by this issue.

Microsoft said it had implemented a compatibility pause on devices with affected Intel SST drivers to prevent the availability of Windows 11 22H2 or Windows 11 21H2 to ensure users' upgrade experience.

CTOnews.com learned that users can solve this by upgrading Intel SST drivers to 10.30.00.5714 and later or 10.29.00.5714 and later.
